What is a Rail Transfer Cart?

FADA Rail Transfer Carts are industrial heavy-load transportation systems that move heavy and geometrically challenging loads within industrial facilities along a specific rail system.

At FADA, we manufacture these systems with capacities ranging from 5 tons to 400 tons. Rail transfer carts provide a safe and fast advantage for load transportation between horizontal and vertical production lines. Offering various control options such as remote control, autonomous systems, and synchronized operation, these carts are customized according to different power supply options and customer needs to best suit the facility.

Power Supply Options

The energy needs of rail transfer carts can be met in different ways depending on the area of use and operational requirements:

  1. Cable Reel: Provides energy transmission by automatically winding the cable.​
  2. Busbar System: Offers continuous energy supply through conductor bars placed along the rail.​
  3. Cable Carrier: Ensures cables are transported and protected in an organized manner.​
  4. Lithium Battery: Eliminates dependency on cables, providing freedom of movement and flexibility.

FADA's Rail Transfer Cart Projects

1- 35-Ton Capacity Scrap Charging Cart

In this 35-ton rail transfer cart project, we integrated the scrap ladle into the transfer cart by designing a special upper table system for our customer's scrap ladle. With the load cell included in the cart, we made it possible to control the weight of the scrap inside the ladle.

We enabled personnel to safely perform load transfer operations between lines with the cabin driver control system.

2- 50-Ton Capacity Synchronized Rail Transfer Carts

Our client in the construction sector needed to safely transfer 150-ton concrete structures from the pre-production stage to the final destination. At FADA, we produced a total of 15 rail transfer carts. These transfer carts can communicate with each other and operate synchronously. By using synchronized operation with multiple transfer carts, we provided a safe in-plant and outdoor transportation solution for long and heavy concrete structures.

3- 30-Ton Capacity Autonomous Rail Transfer Cart with Hydraulic Lifting System

Our Italy-based customer was seeking a system that could safely and efficiently transport high-tonnage steel coils within the factory, controllable via remote control and capable of autonomous operation. As FADA Engineering, we developed a 30-ton capacity rail coil transfer cart equipped with a hydraulic lifting system to provide a tailored solution for this need. By enhancing safety with ultrasonic sensors, lasers, and bumpers, and ensuring compatibility with the factory rail line and autonomous operation features, we maximized operational efficiency.
